Have you ever wandered into a video game store and wanted to check out the discount games they have and found this? Something different. Something you’ve never heard of. Something that looked pretty cool because of the cover and you bought it?
I did and I have no regrets.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a 3rd person adventure platformer game with an interesting story. I also believe that this game is based on a novel. This game is a re-imagining of the novel “Journey to the West” by Wu Cheng’en. I might have to look into this novel.
This game is set in a post-apocalyptic world 150 years into the future. You play as the main character, Monkey, who is in a containment cell in a slave ship and he notices a woman escaping and decides to get out the cell to follow her. The woman he saw is named Trip and while the slave ship is falling out the sky, Monkey reaches for an escape pod only to find Trip inside and they both escape the slave ship. When Monkey wakes up from the fall, Trip puts a slave headband on his head and now Monkey is forced to do what Trip says.
Monkey’s combat style consists of him using a staff to attack the robots that are still alive in the area. He also jumps on platforms and shimmies across buildings, sometimes with Trip on his back. He’s a strong dude.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a gorgeous game, I love that post-apocalyptic atmosphere. The art style is amazing and I also love the combat in this game. I always feel like I’m ready for a fight.
Here’s a gameplay trailer from E3 2010, just to give you an idea of what this game is and what it looks like
Have any of you guys played Enslaved: Odyssey to the West?
