I am starting a new series and it is called “Video Games Old but Gold” and I’m basically going to be talking about some video games I played in my childhood. This will give you a better idea of what I used to play plus give you some nostalgia in the end.
The first video game I will talk about in this series is Psychonauts and I am also adding a review on PlayStation 4. I recently bought it for about $10 on the PlayStation Store and let me just say that playing this seriously brought back some good memories.
Psychonauts is a 3rd person Platformer for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox that came out in 2006 and if I remember, this was around the time I was in elementary school and I remember asking my mother if I can buy this game for my PlayStation 2 because the cover looked so cool to me at the time and the game was different so I wanted to try something new. Now, since I am playing it for PlayStation 4, the graphics are exactly the same as if I’m playing this on a PlayStation 2.
Psychonauts is about a boy named Razputin or Raz, and he escaped from a circus where he lived to sneak into a government-funded summer camp to become a Psychonaut, which is a spy with psychic abilities, and now that he’s in, he must uncover the mystery of the Psychic Training Camp so Raz enters the consciousness of the other characters to resolve an issue that the character may have and to find more clues about the camp.
As a Platformer game, there are many puzzles to solve and lots of abilities to learn and since this is a game about the brain, there will be mind-bending areas and warping locations that will mess with you. As you progress through the game, Raz will learn Telekinesis, Levitation, Pyrokinesis, and more powers by completing the story’s missions. These powers can be upgraded into more stronger powers for future missions.
Psychonauts is hilarious and I heard that there will be a Psychonauts 2 coming out soon and I am very excited and now wondering if that is why they are selling again on PlayStation 4.
Psychonauts 2 could be released in 2018 so keep an eye out for it!
