Review: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Manga Part 1

Hello, everyone and I am here with a review of The Legend of Zelda manga that I recently found out about. I found this on Amazon and was super excited to purchase it. I also have Ocarina of Time part 2 but I haven’t started reading it yet.

Upon reading the first couple of pages of this manga, my first thought was “LINK IS TALKING!!!” and I totally would’ve thought that he just say “HYAH!” to people in the manga but he has dialogue in a speech bubble, so it’s okay.

The art is extremely cute and the characters are just like in the video game like Saria, the Kokiris, Impa, even Ganondorf’s evil self (I miss them…). The manga gets a little dark in the beginning with the Great Deku Tree but that’s why Link is there to save him and all of Hyrule. Clearly this manga is giving me so many memories of the game but at the same time, it is far from it with certain details and obviously it can’t be exactly like the video game. The story is interesting and keeps me wanting more because there are a lot of changes and I kinda think of them as ‘What If’ moments.

For example, instead of Link hurrying straight to Hyrule Castle and sneaking past the guards to find Princess Zelda like in the video game, what if Link meets a girl in the Castle Town and hangs out with her until the night and then the next day, proceeds to find Princess Zelda only to find out that Zelda is the girl that he hung out with that night.

It’s pretty amazing to be honest. Link is very witty and clever in the manga and there are a lot of little jokes and puns running around so I definitely enjoy this manga and will continue reading the others once I get them. Story wise, it does go along with the video game such as getting the Kokiri’s Emerald, the Goron’s Ruby, and the Zora’s Sapphire while saving Princess Ruto inside Jabu-Jabu’s belly.

Other than that, I don’t want to spoil anymore of the manga so you guys can read it as well. Really fun read and would definitely recommend it to those that are wanting a new manga to read.

  1. It sounds like a good read. I may have to pick it up. I like the idea of it being a “What if” scenerio.
